Facing mounting public pressure, Craigslist officials have elected to completely remove the popular "Erotic Services" category from their directory. The Erotic Services section was often used to post ads for escort services, massage parlors and other adult services.

Legal officials have looked at the section under the magnifying glass before, alleging that the directory promotes prostitution. But the recent publicity over the alleged Craigslist Killer in Boston appears to have helped finally sink this popular adult forum..

Craigslist officials told reporters that they would explore creating a new adult category that would be subject to employee review and a set of content standards. Until then, it looks like quite a few people are going to be stuck at home or in a hotel by themselves...
