Sex Position of the Month

Sex Position of the Month (Continued):
Divinely Deep

This modified version of missionary is designed for deep penetration. The woman lies flat on her back while resting her legs on her partner's shoulders. This angles her hips upward to make deeper penetration easier and more comfortable. As an additional benefit, this position naturally squeezes her pelvic muscles for a naturally tighter feeling.

Sex As Stress Relief

Dear Dr. Kat,

I've heard that sex can be a great stress reliever but when I tell my wife that, she thinks it's just an excuse for me to pester her about sex. I'd like to be able to tell her exactly why it is so good for us.

Thanks for the information,
Charles

Hi Charles,

You are indeed correct! I always like to tell couples that they should feel free to use sex as a tool in their relationship and not to just have it because it feels good, although that excuse is totally reasonable too. But low and behold science has actually confirmed why sex is so good for us when it comes to managing stress and relieving tension. Check this out…

• The relaxation that typically follows orgasm is often one of the few times people actually allow themselves to completely relax and let go of the day's stresses.

• Following an orgasm men usually experience a quick drop in blood pressure and fall into sudden relaxation. For women the effect is more progressive but just as powerful. Consider orgasm as your own personal tranquilizer. Throw the Ambien out and overcome insomnia. Let the joyful release of endorphins take over and calm your body and mind.

• With orgasm, DHEA is released and Dr. Theresa Crenshaw author of Alchemy of Love and Lust, says DHEA may be the most powerful chemical in our personal world. It helps balance the immune system, improves cognition, promotes bone growth, and maintains and repairs tissues, keeping your skin healthy and supple. It can mean less frequent colds and flu. In fact, Wilkes University in Pennsylvania says those who have sex once or twice a week show 30 percent higher levels of an antibody called immunoglobulin A, which is known to boost the immune system.

• Many hormones are positively affected by the act of sex and orgasm, which can lead to a lighter mood. Another theory is proposed by psychologist Gordon Gallup who states that Prostaglandin, a hormone found in semen (which upon being absorbed in the female genital tract) may have led to 30 percent more of his female study participants to report feeling happier than the participants who did not have men ejaculate inside of them. So, he can apparently make you feel happy inside and out.

So share this positive information about sex with your wife. I'll bet she'll be more inclined to get it on if she knows all the good things that can come of it.

Cheers,
Dr. Kat

April Showers Mean Waterproof Sex Toys!

Forecast: April Showers Means Waterproof Sex Toys! (Continued)

Some of us here at Adam & Eve still remember the first time we heard the phrase "waterproof vibrator," conjuring up images of erotic abandon under tropical waterfalls, steamy self-massages under a cleansing shower, or playing the role of sensual submariners in the tub or spa.

Now that the dream of waterproof pleasure is here, just what's the reality?

To quote famous New Orleans musician, Ernie K. Doe, "the most important thing is…payin' attention!"

Some of us have done it. Strolled, waded, dived or just ker-plunked into a wet environment, all cocky with our waterproof device. Only to be disappointed when said device fails. Because it got wet.

Successfully Pursuing The Erotic Life Aquatic

But here's the good news. Our learning curve is your new-found knowledge! Here's a foolproof checklist for making sure you enjoy every bit of the investment you have in a waterproof sex toy.

Practice
First try out your toy in a non-wet environment. Put the batteries in, switch it on. Fool around with it. Notice how the switch works. Then make sure you know how to turn it off. If it's a twist base, note how to do this without opening the base up. Because that would let water in if done so under water.

Knowledge
Make sure the toy is indeed, "waterproof." Adam & Eve clearly describes all its waterproof toys. And so does the toy packaging about 90% of the time. When you open the battery compartment on many toys, you'll see a little rubber washer or "O" ring that works as a seal to keep water out. If you're not 100% convinced your toy is waterproof, then keep it out of the water.

Technique
It's easier to switch a toy on/off out of the water, than in it. At least that's what an informal poll shows. Switch it on, then immerse. In a shower, do this away from the direct spray.

People Skills
If you're going to pleasure your partner with a waterproof sex toy, try it on a non-erogenous zone first. This gives your playmate a chance to anticipate how it's going to feel on their…more sensitive areas. Look, what fun is having her fly out of the spa naked at 90 knots while screaming, "Seriously? Dude, WTF! A little warning next time?" Just ease into it. You're both trying to have fun, right?

Wrap It Up
In a dry towel when you're done. Sure these wonderful pleasure givers are labeled waterproof, but that doesn't mean they live there. Dry them off and store properly, with batteries removed.

Surprise yourself or someone special or both with a waterproof sex machine from Adam & Eve.

PS: any sex toy that doesn't have a motor, like glass dildos, butt plugs, stroker sleeves, and cock rings are automatically waterproof. So get wet this April!

It's Rabbit Season!

Be Vewwy Quiet - It's Rabbit Season! (Continued)

These wondrous vibrators are perfect for hitting both the G-Spot and clit at the same time. It's no wonder they're often called ‘a woman's best friend.' But if you're going to go on a rabbit hunt, there are a few things you must consider.

1. Power. Big vibrations take big power, and powerful battery-operated rabbits can really chew through batteries. If you choose a battery-operated rabbit, invest in some rechargeable batteries to protect your wallet. Better yet, check out all the rechargeable rabbit vibrators available. Most of them pack as much (if not more) power, and charge easily via a USB port or wall charger. Though a rechargeable rabbit will probably cost a little more up front, you'll save money in the long run. Unless a battery operated vibe really knocks your socks off, rechargeable is the way to go.

2. Material. Rabbits are usually on the softer side. More affordable models are usually made from soft jelly or rubber, which will feel plenty cushy and comfortable. On the higher end, you'll often find vibes made from silicone. Silicone vibes have a silkier surface, but tend to be only slightly squeezable in their softness. But the firmer surface can transmit vibrations more strongly. Silicone is also a longer-lasting material than jelly or rubber. Many tend to side with silicone, but really the choice is more about personal preference.

3. Motors. Rabbits can have one, two, or even three! The simplest rabbit vibrators often have a single vibrating motor at the base which sends vibrations throughout the shaft and clitoral tickler. Dual motor rabbits focus vibrations in the bunny and in the tip of the shaft for concentrated sensations. Some (like Adam & Eve's G3) even pack three, adding an extra to the base so you're more than covered. If you like light vibration, one might be enough. Most women find two provide the best concentrated vibration. Three are a bonus.

4. G-Spot Stimulation. Rabbits really vary here. The majority of rabbits have a set of rotating beads in the center of the shaft along with a rotating tip for G-Spot massage. Many others forego rotation and instead put a vibrating motor in the shaft's tip to stimulate G-gasms. You can even try out thrusting rabbits! These rare rabbits have a tip that gently thrusts against your G-Spot for big sensation. A thick, curvy tip on the rabbit's shaft can help you find your G-Spot, if you want to make sure you hit it.

5. Special Features. Some rabbits get really wild. Most rabbits aren't waterproof, so shower fans should pick up a waterproof rabbit. A suction cup base is handy for using your rabbit hands-free. You may need only a few vibration speeds and functions, but you'll find rabbits with dozens, as well as rabbits with multiple rotation options. You can even pick up rabbits with an additional backdoor tickler.
