New Survey: Majority of Americans try new positions, techniques often
Trying to stave off boredom in the bedroom, Americans admit to frequently trying something new with their partners. That’s the result of a new national survey that asked Americans how often they try either a new position or technique during their lovemaking. The survey, sponsored by Adam & Eve, found that 63 percent of adults say they often try different sexual positions, while 59 percent say they often try different sexual techniques to please one another.
However, men tend to be a bit more willing than women to try new techniques in the bedroom, the national survey found. About 69 percent of men introduce a new aspect to their sexual encounters, compared with 58 percent of women, according to the survey conducted for Adam & Eve by Harris Interactive.

“Giving and receiving more pleasure to our partners and ourselves requires that couples continue to be inventive,” said Katy Zvolerin of Adam & Eve. “Couples in long-time relationships have to prevent predictability, and new couples have to discover what works for their partner, whether it’s technique with a sexual aid or a mood creator.”The younger set appears to have less inhibition about trying new positions and styles.

And sexually active singles are more likely to be adventuresome than those with committed partners. Some 72 percent of singles report their willingness to be nimble between the sheets. “Attempting new techniques is directly related to a couple’s openness with each other concerning sexual matters,” said Dr. Kenneth Fineman, PhD, an AASECT certified sex therapist in Los Angeles. “I find that the age of the couple is less important than their early teachings regarding sex,” Fineman said.
